Your New Name: Welcomed, Seen, and Sent

There’s a quiet, almost hidden promise in Revelation that your Savior will give you a new name, written on a white stone, known only between you and him. The world gives us so many names and roles, some handed to us, others earned, some even used as weapons. But Jesus claims your story personally. No one is lost in a crowd of the redeemed. You are seen, named, invited, not because you earned it, not because of your record, but because grace has already gone ahead of you.

Are you ready for the day when all that you fear, hide, or regret is answered by a name spoken with love, one carved by the Author of life himself? Imagine what weight falls from your shoulders when you know there is a place, a future, and a table set precisely for you. You’re called not just to survive or behave, but to overcome: to walk with zeal, to repent as you need, and to anchor yourself in the hope of what’s coming.

Can you remember a time you felt unworthy or unwanted at someone’s table? Maybe today you carry a little bit of that into your week. Jesus gives a different invitation: "Come in. Sit with me. Let me call you by what only I can see in you." The promise of a new name means your future is not chained to any failure, nor to the world’s definitions. Your inheritance is not rusted out or shabby, it is joy, honor, and belonging you could never buy for yourself.

Meditation: Pause and imagine Jesus holding out a white stone, a new name shining on it. What does it feel like, knowing he delights to call you his own?

Step: This week as you go about your routines, look for one moment where you can reflect the dignity that comes from Christ’s promise: treat someone you meet as welcomed and chosen, as you are.

Prayer:

God who names and welcomes us, We adore you, not for what you give, but for who you are: generous beyond all our deserving, radiant in glory and tender in mercy. Your will surprises us. It seeks us when we wander, calls us by name when we feel small. We rest in this, your wild grace.

Give us enough for today, faith to risk loving others as you love us, eyes to see chances for joy, hands ready to serve. Where we have fallen short, remind us we can turn, and turn again, because you have already called us beloved. Forgive the ways we lock ourselves in old names or keep others out. Rescue us from the fear that your gifts could ever be lost or earned. Make us ready for our place in your new creation, in your company, at your table, carrying the hope only you can give. Amen.
